Restaurant Roundup
New Brooklyn restaurants are popping up everywhere! I have yet to try Smith Street's newest wine and cheese bar, The Jake Walk, located at 282 Smith. Further down the street, the New [and improved?] St. Claire Restaurant, which opened at the end of February, looks like a great place to grab a plate of pancakes. It's located at 292 Atlantic Avenue and Smith Street. The Moxie Spot, at 81 Atlantic Avenue, offers games and a "fun" room, along with a diner-like menu geared more towards kids than their parents.
In Greenpoint, Karczma, located at 136 Greenpoint Avenue, is dishing out reasonably-priced Polish food. The old Tempo Presto space at 210 Seventh Avenue in Park Slope is being transformed into a Mexican spot called Barrio, and in Williamsburg, Refresh, a new juice bar at 287 Bedford Avenue, is serving up smoothies and sandwiches to passerbys. Those looking for a stiffer drink might want to try the new Bridge Urban Winery and Tasting Room, located at 20 Broadway, also in Williamsburg.
There's also been lots of buzz lately about Brooklyn's Restaurant Week (Dine in Brooklyn), which starts Monday, March 24. Throughout the week, the borough's top dining destinations will be offering three-course meals for $23 (a bargain in my book!).
