I would like to know why Art Garfunkel is erased from American Tune. I am Italian. My poor
English does not allow me to fully express my thoughts, so copy a song found on a blog.

” To me, their music always evokes a certain time, a certain fervor in our nation’s history -their music, with all its complexity, longings, questioning and poetry-resonates with me as a listener as something like “a journey.” From what reading I’ve done on the 60s, numerous youth were on that “journey,” and with all the issues they were bringing to the fore in all that youthful idealism, the music S & G created put voice to that search.handshake
Of course, that idealism that the nation’s youth spearheaded at this time often led to
confrontation, factions and violence both from “The Establishment” and within counterculture
organizations themselves. I think the “darker” images present in so many S&G songs-the
melencoly inherent in so many of their works-is as crucial to their appeal at that time as the
beauty of the harmonies.Harmony suggests togetherness, a unit, a complimentary force-but
lyrically, the songs often revealed a more autumnal subtext. It represented, I think, a dichotomy
that was going on with young people in those days, as they struggled with their hopes for a fairer
world despite much of the stife they encountered while trying to make those changes happen”.

Finally ask the Gerswin prize has been given for the spread of popular music .. and why despise
tastes of ordinary people who find comfort in the melodies of S & G? Even those songs were
written by Mr. Simon and brought to the success of the harmonization duo (with the voice of Art
Garfunkel, unforgettable).I think that would be honest to recognize Garfunkel its credits, as will be
done for artists the African and group the Capeman.Solo three years ago “Old Friend” filled
stadiums (and the pockets of Mr. Simon). Maybe a revenge?
