Brooklyn International Film Festival
It's movie week in Brooklyn! Not only is the Sundance Institute still going strong at BAM, but the 11th Annual Brooklyn International Film Festival, which brings together some of the world's most talented independent filmmakers, began last Friday and will run through this Sunday, June 8.
There are over 100 films in the festival this year, with awards being given in feature, short, documentary, experimental, and animation categories. All movies are being shown at the Brooklyn Lyceum Theater and the Brooklyn Heights Cinema. Click here for information on showtimes and tickets.
The Brooklyn International Film Festival was the first competitive international film festival to be established in New York, and the winners of this year's event will receive over $80,000 in prizes.
