Calling All Unemployed Brooklynites

Over at Gowanus Lounge, there's an interesting blog entry today about being unemployed in Brooklyn. The article stemmed from a conversation on the Brooklynian Park Slope board and is definitely worth a read, whether you're jobless or not.

Wow. That poll is harsh. I have several close friends (who live in Brooklyn, like me) who are out of work, and they’re not still unemployed for lack of trying. I don’t think there are a lot of jobs out there. And if there are, employers can have their pick: they can get exactly who they want to hire, instead of someone whose qualifications are close-but-not-quite. Years ago, I was also out of work for a long time; I don’t think that made me a bum, especially since I was laid off and was trying to find a job.
