Jobs, jobs, jobs. Can your small business or non-profit organization in Brooklyn give a Brooklyn youth, age 14 to 24, a minimum wage job for seven weeks this summer? Get more information at the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Consider it doing your share to make the world--well, Brooklyn-- a better place.
According to SYEP, "Research shows that the earlier a person has their first work experience, the more likely they are to complete school and earn higher wages as they enter adulthood. " Here are places these kids typically have worked:
- camps
- parks
- government agencies
- local non-profits
- hospitals
- senior centers
- daycare centers
- retail stores
