According to Con Ed's website, Brooklyn's still partly in the dark due to Hurricane Irene -related power outages. The utility reports 4,942 outages in Brooklyn as of 7 am Monday. (But don't be smug if your electricity is on. A falling tree could wipe out power today or later in the week.)
Here's where they say there's Brooklyn power outages: Flatbush (2,505 households), Sheepshead Bay (599), Ocean Parkway (299) Park Slope (86) and Crown Heights (41). Boro Hall has 26 lines down. Less impacted are Bay Ridge (10) and Brighton Beach (2). And in Williamsburg, there's just one reported outage (about which one could make some jokes, but we won't).
When will power be back on?
- Tuesday, Aug 30 by midnight: Areas that can expect restoration of power include Boro Hall, Brighton Beach, Williamsburg.
- Wednesday Aug 31 by midnight: Areas that can expect restoration of power include Flatbush Sheepshead Bay, Ocean Parkway, Park Slope, Crown Heights, Bay Ridge.
But something's off. Although the Con Ed site lists major outage areas, the numbers don't add up to 4,942!
Where else is Brooklyn in the dark?
