Alternative to Manhattan's Macy July 4 Fireworks: Go to Coney Island for Fireworks, Instead

Yup. If you hate crowds, or have young children and don't want to bother going to Manhattan, head in the other direction: toward Coney Island. This year on Wednesday July 4th there will be fireworks after the Cyclones Game, right over the Atlantic Ocean boardwalk, around sundown.

The Brooklyn Cyclones fireworks won't be as spectacular as Macy's. But you can get there and back on the subway, no muss, no fuss, and with a much smaller crowd of people.
