" At least 8,200 same-sex marriage licenses were issued -- more than 10 percent of the 75,000 marriage licenses issued city wide. Brooklyn, home to Brooklyn Pride played a role, holding its first ever gay marriage expo in Borough Hall , attracting up to 5,000 people. The first anniversary of the Marriage Equality Act , passed on July 24, 2011, was this week.
