Brooklyn and NYC: No School Until Monday Nov. 5 Due to Hurricane Sandy (& Tuesday's Off for Election Day)

Follow me on:

Kids go free!  No school Thursday, Friday or next Tuesday, either.

The Mayor has announced that all New York City public schools are closed for students until Monday.

And on Tuesday, there's no school again; it's Election Day.

So, parents, make a plan: go to the Brooklyn public library tomorrow (it is open, except for branches in Zone A flood areas), get some books, and provide some educational structure for the kids. The parks will remain closed. But Brooklyn's museums are open. And it's a good time to do a little extra math, reading, write a story, and have a taste of home-schooling.

And lets hope that there aren't a lot of snow storms ahead this winter, or there won't be enough school days in the school year. Between the Jewish holidays in September, Columbus Day weekend, Thanksgiving coming up and 5 days lost to Hurricane Sandy, it adds up to a lot of lost days.
