If you're a lawyer and would like to help, or a Hurricane Sandy victim and need some legal advice, free, a new service is being launched today. Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Law School and the Brooklyn Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Project will host the Brooklyn Sandy Relief Legal Clinic at Brooklyn Borough Hall. You can talk to disaster relief-trained law students and volunteer attorneys who will offer storm-related legal and application assistance in regards to insurance claims; FEMA applications and appeals; public assistance; and housing. Note that the hours are very limited.
When: 1-4 on Tuesdays, and 9-noon on Thursdays
Who: Walk-ins are welcome.
Where: Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon, between Court and Adam Streets; use the Borough Hall subway station.
