Wollman Rink: No Ice Skating in Brooklyn's Prospect Park This Year, Again

Alas, this year there won't be outdoor ice skating in Prospect Park during the Christmas vacation and winter season. The old Wollman Rink is being renovated --but totally renovated -- into a spiffy new year-round facility, renamed Lakeside, that promises to be bigger and better.  Well, it should, considering that it cost $74 million and has taken years. A few  little areas have opened,  Music Island and the esplanade, but the Prospect Park Ice Skating Remains Closed. Lets revisit this issue in winter, 2013.
