Defying Park Slope's reputation as the hotbed of crunchy-vegan hyper-vigilant-soccer moms, a 23 year-old Park Slope blonde (OK, she actually comes from Alabama) was crowned Miss America 2013. She's a student at Fashion Institute of Technology studying advertising and marketing. You may have missed the fact that Hagan was formerly Miss New York, an honor that won her a $10,000 scholarship which, according to the Miss New York site, said she would use to pay for her degree in cosmetics & fragrance marketing.
Here are two factoids of interest about this girl: First of all, she's a fab tap dancer. Second, Miss New Yorks typically adopt a cause: Hagan adopted as her cause child sexual abuse prevention. "Hagan has chosen to honor the women in her family who have been victims of sexual abuse," said the site, "by sharing their personal stories and encouraging others to take a stand. "
