Brooklyn's Bensonhurst Plans New Cultural Center for Italian American Heritage

Deep in Brooklyn, the once predominantly Italian neighborhood that was almost synonymous with Italian, is undergoing demographic changes. With large numbers of Chinese and Russian immigrants moving in, the 'hood is changing. One creative response by Italian community leaders is to try to build a new multimillion dollar cultural center, which they say will be the first such institution dedicated to Italian American cultural heritage, in New York. It's to be called Il Centro.
