If you want a hotel near Manhattan's 9/11 September 11 Memorial, look in Brooklyn. The 9/11 Memorial on the site of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan promises to bring many tourists to the area, raising already-high hotel prices in lower Manhattan.

But it's cheaper in Brooklyn (and less hectic). And, you can get to the Memorial and other lower Manhattan destinations by walking over the Brooklyn Bridge.

And, Brooklynites, if you have guests coming to NY to see the WTC memorial, put them up within walking distance — on the Brooklyn side!

The Marriott Brooklyn Bridge and a Sheraton are both located in Downtown Brooklyn, in a business district that's less than two miles to the 9/11 Memorial, World Trade Center site and Wall Street. Both are close to Manhattan, across the East River.

Things to Know about Brooklyn Hotels Near the 9/11 Memorial

The hotels are somewhat similar, and are located within a five minute walk from one another. The Sheraton is, however, located in the midst of a shopping area, the Fulton Mall, whereas the Marriott faces Brooklyn's civic center, Borough Hall.

  2. Transportation from hotels to 9/11 Memorial : Weather permitting, the best option is to walk over the nearby Brooklyn Bridge. Door to door, it will take about 45 minutes to reach the Manhattan side of the Bridge, and then the 9/11 Memorial is just another ten minute walk.

  3. Transportation to hotels: Both hotels have easy access to multiple subway lines. You can get to both hotels by subway from Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station, and by cab from JFK or LaGuardia airports. If you are driving, both are equally accessible and have parking. (When visiting the 9/11 Memorial you'll want to leave the car in Brooklyn, or pay huge parking lot fees.)
What's Nearby? Both hotels are within walking distance of DUMBO, the boutiques and restaurants of Smith Street Brooklyn Heights, and the Atlantic Center's Barclay's Nets Stadium.
