WNYC presents the sixth annual Martin Luther King Day event in Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Museum,to be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012, sponsored by the Brooklyn Community Foundation, Tekserve, and SchoolBook.org.

Theme: MLK’s Footsteps: Education as a Civil Right

"In MLK’s Footsteps: Education as a Civil Right" examines a civil rights battle Dr. King embraced: equal education for all.

The sold-out program feature WNYC’s Brian Lehrer, Jami Floyd, managing editor of The Global Game, and singer-songwriter Toshi Reagon, among others.

Panelists include:
-Cami Anderson, Superintendent of the Newark Public Schools
-Fredrick C. Harris, Professor of Political Science and Director of Columbia University's Center on African-American Politics and Society
-Rachel Moran, Dean of the UCLA School of Law
-Harvard Sitkoff, Professor of History at the University of New Hampshire
-John A. Stokes, an original plaintiff in the Brown v. Board of Education case
-Touré, journalist and cultural critic.
