Where Can You See Macy's July 4th Fireworks in Brooklyn?
Independence Day 2011 marks the 35th Annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks. Unfortunately, unless you happen to live in a helicopter, it's going to be tough to get a view of the 2011 Macy's July 4th fireworks from Brooklyn, because they're happening on the Hudson River — again. This makes excellent viewing for the residents not of Brooklyn, but of New Jersey.Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks in New York City: Where Can You See Them?
Here are your options, Brooklynites and tourists, for seeing July 4th fireworks in New York City:
- Have a party on a rooftop somewhere, perhaps in Park Slope overlooking Red Hook or Bensonhurst, in the expectation that someone, somewhere, will be doing illegal fireworks that you can enjoy. They won't be spectacular. But you won't have to fight two million other people to see them, either.
- Watch the Fourth of July spectacular on your laptop or TV, complete with patriotic music. The fireworks, with commentary and musical scores, will be covered by NBC, July 4th at 9 pm.
- Head toward Manhattan on foot or by subway (don't even think of driving; parking a bike might be tough, too).
