Where to Buy and Sell Used and Vintage Clothing in Williamsburg

Best Secondhand and Re-sell Stores

From

If you are suffering from excess clothing and/or a lack of cash, these Williamsburg shops can help you out. For selling purposes, make sure to call ahead of time and see what the store is looking for--you're much more likely to walk away with cash. If you're donating, be sure to request a tax-form that you can submit for a donation write-off.

1. Buffalo Exchange

504 Driggs Avenue at N. 9th Street

Buy / Sell / Donate

Buffalo Exchange is very picky about what they will buy from you, so be sure to call them and ask what they need for the season. Do not expect to waltz in with several bags of clothing and get a handful of cash. However, if they do decide to purchase your clothes, the store credit is a higher offer than the cash in hand. If they don't take any of your clothes, they will donate them on your behalf to charity.

2. Beacon's Closet

88 N. 11th Street between Berry Street and Wythe Avenue

Buy / Sell / Donate

Beacon's is a great store for both buying and selling clothes. Like Buffalo Exchange, they offer more store credit than cold hard cash. Beacon's has a larger selection than Buffalo Exchange and the selection here is more unique: more vintage clothing and accessories rather than secondhand retail.

3. Monk's

496 Driggs Avenue at N. 9th Street

Donate Only

Though Monk's is donation only, it's a great store for shopping second-hand. The clothes here are a nice mix of both thrift and vintage, and there's a great selection of bags and sunglasses. Monk's also has an equal selection of men's clothes, which is unusual, making it one of the best vintage shops in Williamsburg for men.

4. The Salvation Army

176 Bedford Avenue at N. 7th Street

Donate Only

The Salvation Army is donate-only. Be sure to bring your clothes in large garbage bags or other bags you are willing to donate to them. They will have you sign a form at the front and in exchange you will receive a tax form so you can write-off whatever the donation was worth when tax day comes in April.
