Question: When Are Hanukkah Menorah Lightings at Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza & Boro Hall?
Brooklyn celebrates Hanukkah with several public menorah lightings. The menorah at Grand Army Plaza, in front of the main entrance to Prospect Park and near the Brooklyn Central Library is enormous. When and where can one attend a public celebration of Chanukah with candle lighting this year?
Answer:
  • Grand Army Plaza - Saturday December 8-Saturday December 15, 2012 daily at sundown. There will be free latkes, music and some children's gifts.
  • Brooklyn Borough Hall - Starting Monday at 5 p.m. The ceremony will be led by Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin of Congregation B’nai Avraham and joined by Rabbi Simcha Weinstein and Paul Amit, a parent from Kiddie Korner who will light the menorah from a cherry picker. Musical entertainment will be provided by Yanky Flusberg and Kiddie Korner, and holiday refreshments will be provided.
  • Also, as of 2012, in DUMBO,
  • DUMBO -at the Pearl Street Triangle starting December 8th at 5pm for 8 nights of lighting of the DUMBO Menorah with the Chabad of DUMBO.

Does Brooklyn really have the world's largest menorah?
