The amount of work and creativity parade participants put into their costumes is incredibly impressive. Floats are filled with elaborately dressed groups, each competing for cash prizes, which are given out based on originality, beauty, and performance.
Preparation for the West Indian-American Day Parade and its elaborate costumes and floats begins months before the festivities actually begin.
