For those who want to party but find New Year's Eve parties to be stuffy and awkward, why not attend a concert this year? Many of Brooklyn's finest music venues put on concerts from big names or shows featuring local performance artists and ticket costs incorporate open bars and champagne toasts!
1. The Music Hall of Williamsburg - Butthole Surfers
If you're feeling nostalgic for the nineties this New Year's Eve, Butthole Surfers will play Music Hall of Williamsburg. Show at 9 p.m., tickets $55.
2. Brooklyn Bowl - The Roots
The Roots will play Brooklyn Bowl this year for NYE. The show is already sold-out, but who knows, maybe a friend has a ticket they're looking to get rid of.
3. The Bell House - Brooklyn Soul Party
Celebrate 2011 with a soulful NYE, featuring Marva Whitney, Billy Prince (of the Precisions), and The Sweet Divines. Show at 8 p.m., tickets $30 in advance, $40 at the door.
4. Union Hall - Happy House
Happy House, a Disco party featuring indie pop, Swedish jams, and Motown tunes moves from The Bell House to Union Hall for NYE. Sip on some bubbly and dance all night! Show 8 p.m., tickets $15.
5. South Paw - Murray Hill's New Year's Extravaganza
Performer and Comedian Mr. Murray Hill takes over South Paw to bring in 2011 with burlesque, DJs, and dancing. General admission is $45. VIP admission for $75 gets you seats in the upper lounge, 2 complimentary drinks, and a champagne toast. VIP admission for $100 gets you front row tables, 3 complimentary drinks, and a champagne toast. Doors open at 9:30 p.m.
6. Little Field - Har Har Superstar
Performance artist Har Har Superstar will be hosting a NYE fete at Little Field on Degraw. According to the website, Har Har is half Ron Jeremy and half John Belushi with a little bit of Justin Timberlake thrown in. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., tickets $20 in advance, $30 at the door.
7. Galapagos - Floating Kabrette
Galapagos' own Aerial Burlesque, Floating Kabrette, will be putting on a special New Year's performance. Tickets will get you a complimentary glass of champagne for $35, or you can splurge on a $95 ticket that includes Lakeside seating, open bar all night, and a champagne toast at midnight. Doors at 8 p.m.
8. Pete's Candy Store - The Love Rock New Year's Sweetriot Love-In
There will be live music and chocolates by Sweet Riot to bring in the 2011, the year of Love, according to Pete's. Band Waldri headliens with The Doctors Fox. Tickets are $5 before10 p.m. and $10 afterwards.
