Summer has officially arrived in Brooklyn! This isn't a comprehensive list of everything that's happening in June, but I've tried to give you at least one great event option for nearly every day of the month.

    Gowanus Goes Green Festival
    This eco-friendly festival will feature live Bluegrass music, kids' activities, all-natural, organic treats, and more. Free.

    Sunset Sizzle 2008

    M.I.A. in Concert
    This is the first concert of a strong summer line-up at the McCarren Park Pool. Doors open at 5pm, and music starts at 7pm.

    5th Annual Atlantic Art Walk
    Stroll down Atlantic Avenue and get an inside look at artists' studios and special art exhibitions at the 5th Annual Atlantic Art Walk. Many restaurants and bars along the avenue will be offering specials for the occasion. Click here for a map.

    Red Hook Waterfront Arts Festival
    Enjoy a day of music, dance, spoken word, beat box, kids' activities, kayak rides, eco-friendly living, and more during this annual celebration of all things Red Hook. Free.

    Renegade Craft Fair
    Every year this huge craft fair brings together some of the country's most talented independent designers and do-it-yourselfers in a handcrafted-goods shoppoing extravaganza.

    Brookyn Pride Parade and Festival
    With a charity-driven 10K, an all-day multicultural festival, and a "Night Time Parade" followed by an official after-pride party, the Brooklyn Pride festivities will keep you busy morning, day, and night.

    Big Baby Birthday Bash at the New York Aquarium

    Ikea Grand Opening: The Countdown Begins
    The city‘s first Ikea superstore doesn‘t open until June 18, but the store is allowing customers to begin lining up at 9am today. The question is: Is a new couch really worth camping out for?

    Ikea Grand Opening in Red Hook

    Met Summer Concert: Live in Prospect Park
    Over 150,000 people from throughout the city are expected at this free concert featuring the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Acclaimed singers Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna will together perform some of opera's greatest hits.

  • Saturday, June 21
    Coney Island Mermaid Parade
    Don your favorite mermaid costume and head to Coney Island for this annual art parade of wackiness. Expect big crowds of participants disguised as sea creatures. Make a day out of it: The Mermaid Parade Ball follows the parade and will be going strong until midnight.
