    Brooklyn Carnival: West Indian-American Day Parade
    In what may be one of the biggest events of the year (and what WILL be the biggest parade of the year!), over 2 million people will gather to celebrate Caribbean-American culture at this day-long parade. Expect an amazing array of colorful costumes, loud music, and as many Caribbean treats as you can eat.
    11am to 6pm; The parade begins at the corner of Rochester Avenue and Eastern Parkway and ends near Grand Army Plaza. A good viewing point is between the Brooklyn Museum and Grand Army Plaza.

    Brooklyn Fashion Week Kick-Off
    Celebrate Brooklyn style with a Fashion Week kick-off featuring a "No Sleep Til Brooklyn" runway show. Brooklyn Fashion Week runs through September 10 and boasts a full eight days of events.

    A Wrinkle in Time: Artists from the Registry
    Today is the first day of the "Wrinkle in Time" show at the BRIC Rotunda Gallery, in which twelve talented Brooklyn artists have used various forms of media to create their interpretations of historic events. The show runs through October 18.

    Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD
