Guide Review

Ambiance

The look of An Nhau is a bit schmaltzy compared to some of the other restaurants in Williamsburg, where the Gastro pub style seems to dominate dining decor. But the sleek, low-lit, jungle like appearance of An Nhau can be a respite from overcrowded restaurants in the neighborhood. Even though the food here is consistently delicious, you'll never have to wait for a table. The outdoor garden (covered by a plastic roof) doubles the available seating space and is a favorite for those seeking a casual place for a first date or a low-key after work dinner.

Cuisine

The restaurant boasts the best bowl of pho (a traditional Vietnamese soup, similar to ramen) in the neighborhood for $9. Share an order of summer rolls for $6 and you're good to go. Entree standouts include the Chilean sea bass, cooked in a beer broth, for $16, or the grilled salmon with delicious sugar snap peas, also $16.

If you're in the mood for a Banh Mi but don't have the time for a sit down meal, An Nhau owns a window service take out restaurant right next door called Banh Mi 172. On Saturdays and Sundays you can expect to see people munching down on their sandwiches right outside the door.

Drinks

In addition to a nice wine list and a few bottles of beer (including two from Vietnam) to choose from, An Nhau also serves cocktails, like a cucumber mint martini for $10. These aren't the best mixed drinks you can find in the neighborhood. In fact, they aren't even close to the best cocktails in Williamsburg, but it's nice to have the option. For the non-drinkers there are pots of tea and a nice limeade.

Nearby

If the cocktails at An Nhau didn't do it for you, head to Hotel Delmano on Berry St. and N. 9th - but be prepared to pay top dollar. Another option for after dinner drinks is The Bedford, just up the street on Bedford Avenue and N. 11th. You'll find the bar in the back room.
