The Bottom Line

It didn’t take long after Baked opened its doors to the public in 2005 for the bakery to develop a devoted following. Tourists and locals alike make their way to this popular Red Hook spot for what are arguably the best cakes, muffins, and brownies this side of the East River (even Oprah is a fan!).

Pros

  • Delicious baked goods and coffee
  • Comfortable café with free WiFi
  • Offers catering/mail order

Cons

  • Slightly out-of-the-way location

Guide Review - Baked

Owned and operated by Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito, Baked is a gem of a bakery that gets, in my book, five well-deserved stars. With an assortment of cakes, cupcakes, brownies, bars, scones, muffins, tarts, and more, this is a can’t-miss Brooklyn dessert destination.

Need some sweet suggestions? If you’re not sure where to begin, I recommend the Red Hook “Red Hot” cake, which is an instant crowd pleaser. I’m also a big fan of the homemade oreos and the sweet and salty brownie. Wash it all down with a steaming cup of espresso or indulge in the bakery’s velvety hot chocolate. Brooklyn never had it so good!
