Where is the best shopping in Brooklyn?

By , About.com Guide

Question: Where is the best shopping in Brooklyn?
Answer:

Thrift store shoppers should hit up Williamsburg, where the enormous Beacon's Closet offers designer bargains at low, low prices. After you're done searching for vintage deals, walk down the neighborhood's Bedford Avenue and/or Grand Street, where tiny boutiques sell hipster fashions and trendy indie designs.

In south Brooklyn, a walk down Boerum Hill's Atlantic Avenue and the nearby Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens section of Smith Street is sure to garner some great finds, with antique shops, clothing boutiques, and home goods stores lining the way.

Park Slope offers great picks, too. Check out Fifth Avenue for cool, can't-miss shops like Cog & Pearl for interesting jewelry, art, and accessories; Goldy + Mac for fun fashions; and Matter for amazing designer-made modern goods.

The Brooklyn Flea, in Fort Greene, is a shopping destination for New Yorkers from all boroughs. The weekly flea market is part art show, part antique market, part indie boutique, and part restaurant (fantastic food vendors from throughout Brooklyn sell their goods every Sunday at the Flea).

For real shopping deals in Brooklyn, you might want to visit Ikea in Red Hook or the Atlantic Center Terminal, which houses big box bargain stores like Old Navy and Target. Century 21, in Bay Ridge, offers designer fashions and home goods at bargain prices.
