Brooklyn Bowling Alleys

By Kristen Goode, About.com

Looking for a place to go bowling in Brooklyn? Try your luck at one of these tried-and-true establishments.

The Gutter

Take a walk back to yesteryear at this beautiful bowling alley; the owners have outfitted the place with authentic old-school equipment and furniture. Hipsters flock to this Williamsburg hotspot, so expect a wait. Games are $6-$7; shoe rental is $2.

Melody Lanes

You might find yourself surrounded by teens at Melody Lanes, but this Sunset Park bowling alley is definitely one of the friendliest in Brooklyn. Games are $6 and up; shoe rental is $4.

Melody Lanes

Shell Lanes

The bowling at Shell Lanes is budget-friendly, but watch out for the notoriously unfriendly staff. Games are $3 and up; shoe rental is $3.50.

Shell Lanes
1 Bouck Court
(718) 336-6700

Maple Lanes

This 48-lane center boasts a DJ after 6pm. Games are $4.50 and up; shoe rental is $4.25.

Maple Lanes
1570 60th Street
(718) 331-9000

Gil Hodges

A shabby space and run-down equipment makes this Gravesend bowling alley one of my last picks for bowling in Brooklyn. Games are $6; shoe rental is $4.
